“I think if human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. Wouldn’t life be more interesting that way?”

This morning your best friend turned into a zombie and you were left holding the broom. What happens next?
She stomped the end of the broom on the scuffed wooden floor. “No fair! I want to be the zombie this time!”
Sid shrugged. “You lose. Better be faster this time.” He pulled on the tattered zombie bandages, one eyeball falling out, mouth stained with blood and flesh hanging from the teeth.
She stomped the broom again as he lumbered off. “I’d show you losing,” she muttered, hurrying off to gather the ingredients for her most impressive spell ever.
A dead cockroach. Dirt from the cellar of the house. (There might be bodies buried underneath.) Hairs and dead leaves from the abandoned house’s corners and grime from the broken stove.
Grabbing an old pot from the floor, she placed it on a burner and dumped all the ingredients inside, adding several cups of rusty water.
“Boil, boil, trouble and trouble. Witches brew and cauldrons bubble!”
Galloping around on the broom as it cooked.
When Sid came shambling back in, she grabbed up the pot and tossed the contents into his face, cockroach sticking to his nose.
“Loser!” she shouted and flew away.

What are your favorite Halloween books from childhood?
It’s Never Too Early For Halloween
Linus: [writing] Dear Great Pumpkin, I am looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night. I hope you will bring me lots of presents.
Linus: Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He’s gotta pick this one. He’s got to. I don’t see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there’s not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.
It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is my favorite Halloween book of all times. Having kids meant we got all sorts of Halloween books – Pumpkin books, ghost books, witches book, monster books. All cute and funny, but not the Great Pumpkin. If you have never read the book or seen the TV show, you needs to attend to that…

How motivated am I to change something important in my life?
I like to think I am extremely motivated. In my mind I am. I keep telling myself that I don’t want to end up like my Aunt, wheel-chair bound and unable to do anything. I want to enjoy life at her age (82), still able to take care of myself. So I keep telling myself I need to get fit again, get fit and stay fit, but when it comes to actually exercising, I fail to implement my plan.
I do walk my dog most days and most walks are an hour or more. So, I am getting some exercise, but I need to get back on track with the rest.
Here’s hoping I can focus my body with my mind and get going.
